GROUNDED!

Grounded! I can’t believe it! After all, we only pulled up some guy’s flowers, rolled down someone’s hill onto the road on our skateboards, hopped into a pool, swiped a large flag, and stood in front of the cars to make them stop. I guess it was standing in front of that big fire truck that got us caught.

Grounded! Boy, did my parents flip out! No skateboard, no TV, no iPod, no movies, no cell, no hanging out for one month. Then do dishes. Then work to pay for those flowers and flag. Then do public service for six weeks! Boy, life stinks!

The only really cool thing is my older brother. He told my parents that he would be grounded for me, pay my bill, and work off my public service. Whoa!  I didn’t know he even knew how to run the dishwasher.

Sound too good to be true? Well, that is exactly what Jesus did when He came to earth. He came as a baby - you know - Christmas. When He grew up He did good things for people. Some were jealous of Him and had Him crucified on a horrible, wooden cross. cross They couldn’t kill Him though; He gave up His life on purpose. Then He went to hell in our place. He was buried. Three days later He came out of the tomb all on His own power - like Easter. No one else has ever done that! Then He went back to heaven. He is still alive today.

Now for the bad news. The Bible  Bible  says that we are all sinners. “For all have sinned,” (Romans 3:23). That includes you. God is holy, so He must judge sin. “The wages of sin is death,” (Romans 6:23) - eternal punishment in a place called hell.

The good news is as easy as ABC. Admit that you have done wrong. Believe in what Jesus did; that He died in your place - just as your brother took your place. “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved,” (Acts 16:31). Confess your sin. Simply ask Him to forgive you. He has already taken your punishment. You just need to ask Him to count it for you.  girl praying

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved,” (Romans 10:9).

Grounded! We are all grounded to hell forever if we don’t accept Jesus’ offer to forgive us. Your brother could only take your grounding if you let him. Jesus can only pay for your sins if you let Him. Ask Him today.
